FESTIVAL ADMINISTRATOR / SUPPORT WORKER
THE GAY PROJECT CLG AND CORK LGBT+ PRIDE FESTIVAL CLG.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Gay Project CLG and The Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival are seeking to fill
a combined post, working part-time for each organisation. We welcome
applications for the position of Festival Administrator / Support
Worker from suitably qualified and/or experienced individuals
regardless of sexuality, gender, age, race, religious or cultural
background.
* Candidates should be enthusiastic, reliable, and organised
self-starters, with the ability to work in a small team at Gay Project
as well as the Cork LGBT+ Pride Board and Committee.
* Candidates should hold a relevant recognised qualification and/or
have a minimum of 3 years administration experience, ideally within
the community/festival/events sector.
* Candidates should have previous experience working with a
voluntary committee, and liaising with community stakeholders and
statutory agencies.
* Candidates should have a working knowledge of Health and Safety
protocols, ideally within the festivals/events sector, envisaging and
planning for potential issues before they arise
* Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication
skills, have experience in accounts processing ideally using
Quick-Books, and be proficient with MS Office/G suite.
* Candidates should be flexible and accommodating in their working
hours, as sometimes there may be a necessity to work outside of
regular office hours on time sensitive projects and/or submissions
* Candidates must have a knowledge of and empathy towards LGBT+
issues and culture, and be a good mutual personality fit for the
organisation.
THE ROLES
FESTIVAL ADMINISTRATOR
The role of Festival Administrator encompasses many of the
responsibilities historically coordinated directly by Cork LGBT+ Pride
Festival Board and Committee.
The list below is indicative rather than exhaustive; various elements
will become both more and less apparent throughout the period of the
contract.
* Assist in scheduling the work of support staff and monitoring
progress
* Prepare and circulate a regular progress report to the Cork LGBT+
Pride Festival Board.
* Take an active role on the Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival Committee and
also assist in delivering post-event reportage to the Board on all
activities relating to the Festival.
* Assist in devising and coordinating marketing campaigns, including
assisting with the production of copy writing and Press Releases
* Assist in handling all safety issues in relation to various venues
utilised during the Festival along with all insurance issues,
environmental and child protection policies
* Assist in establishing a sustainable audience development plan to
ensure the constant regeneration of the Festival?s audiences
* Assist in the production of the Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival Magazine
including financial control function, promotional printed material,
etc.
* Assist in the development and management of the Cork LGBT+ Pride
Festival website and social media platforms to increase the festivals
regional, national and international profile
SUPPORT WORKER
The Support Worker will have a broad remit, to include but not limited
to:
* Supporting the Community Development Worker in delivering community
projects, with a particular focus on targeted campaigns, e.g.
partnering with a national Traveller organisation, hosting a major
event on LGBT Traveller inclusion, supporting digital media work. The
same could be done with a migrant/POC organisation
* Co-ordinating regular Gay Project group activities, such as Yoga,
Coffee Mornings, Book Club and other community engagement
* Supporting the Project Co-ordinator in general project
administration
BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT
Gay Project CLG seeks to ensure that gay, bi, trans and queer men are
enabled and empowered to participate fully in Ireland?s social,
economic, cultural, political and artistic life. Based in Cork, it has
naturally worked closely with The Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival since its
inception. Gay Project CLG is active across Munster, at national
level, and participates in many international LGBT+ forums and
activities. Much of the Project?s work focuses on community
development programmes, aiming to reduce the isolation felt by many in
the LGBT+ community.
THE FESTIVAL
The Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival are an outward looking community
organisation; Cork Pride have been instrumental in establishing the
Ireland Pride Network, which brings together Pride organisations
across Ireland to help and support one another; Cork Pride are also
members of EPOA, the European Pride Organisers Association, and
InterPride, the International association for Pride Festivals.
In addition, and in order to help fulfil our social responsibilities,
the Cork Pride Festival in turn supports many different allied events
and community organisations such as LGBT Ireland, Gay Project, LINC,
UP Cork LGBT+ Youth Group, Outing the Past Cork, and the Cork LGBT
Interactive Walking Tour amongst others.
Last year, we tried to preserve some of our smaller physical events by
rescheduling, but ultimately we had to deliver the **Apply on the
website** Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival online; this year, we are planning
an exciting hybrid programme of events, cognisant of everybody?s
wellbeing and safety, but our dates will return to our normal, which
is annually the August Bank Holiday weekend and the week preceding it.

August.
TERM OF CONTRACT
The role is based in Cork City for 1 years duration, subject to
funding. The position is full-time, **Apply on the website** hours per
week. Work in the role of Support Worker for Gay Project CLG will be
assigned **Apply on the website** hours per week initially, with
**Apply on the website** hours per week in the Festival Administrator
role, increasing to **Apply on the website** hours per week in the run
up to the festival. This contract has the capacity to be renewed
annually depending on performance and funding.
